RHYW is chartered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization to promote and teach youth (under 18) amateur athletics, particularly the rules, skill, and techniques of wrestling, training youth amateur athletes through practices and clinics, promoting youth amateur athletic competition through organizing and encouraging league and competitive matches; and promote sportsmanship and good health of amateur youth participants, build their self-confident good character and values through the sport of wrestling, and in so doing, enhancing the availability and quality of the sport of wrestling.
RESTON HERNDON YOUTH WRESTLING (RHYW) BYLAWS (EXCERPT)
It is incorporated as member driven organization with a board of directors.
The Purpose of these by bylaws is to define the roles of the Board of Directors and Officers to make the necessary decisions for the successful organization and running of RHYW.
The Board shall be comprised of three (3) Directors at inception. The original Board of Directors will include Richard G. Evans Jr., Robert J. Sheehan, and Daniel H. Miller.
The Directors and Officers of the RHYW corporation are all volunteers and hence will not receive any salary nor other financial compensation for their services.
Each board Director will get one (1) vote on all decisions that come before the board. The board shall always be comprised of an odd number of members with a majority vote carrying any decision not otherwise enumerated.
A Director can be removed by resigning or by unanimous vote of the board. New Directors may be added to include increasing the size of the board as long as the board remains at an odd numbered of board members (i.e. 3,5,7…etc.) at any given time. Adding additional board members must be voted on and approved by unanimous consent.
To be eligible to be a board member, an individual must be a parent with a child actively enrolled in the RHYW organization and the parent must be willing to actively participate in all RHYW activities.
